Event details:

Join us for an enlightening Yellow Ribbon Road Safety Alliance Hui, tailored for road safety supporters, businesses, councils, and government officials. This event offers an opportunity to connect, collaborate, and learn about some effective road safety initiatives which have helped reduce road trauma.

The Safe System is a globally recognised approach to road safety, which accepts that humans make mistakes that can result in crashes. By taking a whole system approach, safety can be improved so that whilst crashes may still occur, they don’t result in deaths and serious injuries.

As part of Road Safety Week 2024, the Yellow Ribbon Road Safety Alliance is facilitating a hui to showcase some ‘Hero’ Safe System projects from across Aotearoa that have resulted in road safety improvements.

The hui will be followed by an opportunity to network with refreshments, before a short walk to view the Vector Lights Harbour Bridge, which will be lit yellow for Road Safety Week. There will be a photo call held with the bridge backdrop.

Topics will cover all areas of the Safe System looking at:

  • Roads and Roadsides – Creating safer roads and roadsides – This session will focus on infrastructure project and the safety results seen to date – presented by Beca
  • Speed – Outcomes from Auckland’s safe speeds programme – This presentation will look at the monitoring and evaluation of Auckland’s speed programme, and share some of the outcomes to date – presented by Auckland Transport

In this presentation, we’ll delve into several innovative solutions that play a crucial role in enhancing road safety in New Zealand. The focus will be on how these advancements positively contribute to reducing accidents and saving lives. – presented by Toyota

Light refreshments will be provided, including a selection of nibbles and refreshing non-alcoholic drinks to keep conversations flowing. This is a great opportunity to offer staff development during Road Safety Week.
